Experts in nutrition and the environment have raised concerns over the health risk associated with the ingestion of mycotoxins-containing foods. The experts say the toxic effects of consuming substances that contain mycotoxins can lead to severe liver damage, haemorrhages, abortion, convulsions, neurological disturbances, and death in livestock and humans.

A Canadian professor, Nadia Chaudhri, battling end-stage ovarian cancer has urged women to pay attention to changes in their body and consult a physician for proper diagnosis when they have unusual pain. According to Chaudhir, women who are alert to changes in their bodies would be able to detect ovarian cancer early and get a good prognosis, noting that early detection is crucial to the treatment of the health condition.

Scientists have warned pregnant women against the indiscriminate use of paracetamol, noting that it may affect foetus development. The scientists stressed that pregnant women should only use paracetamol after consultation with their physician, disclosing that new studies have revealed that the medication can affect the foetus.
